accumulations at eye level, 2000Span Galleries, Melbourne AustraliaThe constructions is this show are, literally and metaphorically, building blocks of associations…paintings which begin to push themselves off the wall and out of the rectangle, transgressions into installation. Everything is a suggestive combination of order and intuition. accumulation refers to an inner and outer rhythm, which becomes a device for mnemonic narrative and also for making art itself, for exploring consciousness through the eye, which holds both an inner and outer view. All perception is selective, partial, fragmentary. I use the fragment to move infinitesimally towards the ideal of the whole, gathering nuance and meaning from the vastness of the real, the potential and the uncertain.
